Waxing is a form of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair at the root from the follicle. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for roughly four to six weeks, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to some of their hair being on a different growth cycle.
If you return for another waxing session as soon as these hair are long enough (at least half a cm) these hairs should eventually fall into the same cycle. Your hair has three stages: growth, transition and rest. To see best results from waxing it is essential to synchronize all hairs into the same stage.

Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, pubic area (called bikini waxing), legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet.

Strip waxing (soft wax) is accomplished by spreading a wax thinly and evenly over the cleansed and prepared skin. A cloth or paper strip is applied and pressed firmly, adhering the strip to the wax and the wax to the hairs. The strip is then quickly removed against the direction of hair growth, this removes the wax along with the hair. Finally a soothing lotion or gel will be applied to the waxed area, this cools the area and helps to reduce erythema (redness). Avoid touching the area or wearing tight clothing for at least 12 hours after the treatment.

Waxing should only ever be conducted by a trained professional to avoid unnecessary bruising, trauma to the skin or hair follicles and ingrowing hairs. All of the above are caused by incorrect removal of wax and can be avoided or minimised by seeking a professional to conduct the treatment.

Please note: Ingrowing hairs can also be caused by dry skin, when the hair is not strong enough to break through the epidermis it rebounds, sending it backwards or causing it to coil under the skin, this can cause infected hair follicles and discomfort.
Our Therapists are trained to safely and hygienically remove ingrown hairs.

Threading is another form of semi-permanent hair removal that originated in the Middle-East. This treatment involves the unwanted hairs been trapped in a twisting thread therefore removing them from the follicle. The sensation of threading has been likened to tweezing.

Threading is used to remove hairs on the face.
